The UCSF Healing and Activism virtual Conference is taking place
October 9th and 10th, 2020.
The UCSF Healing and Activism Conference provides students and learners the space to collectively heal, deepen understanding and commitment to social justice, and develop sustainable skills to become activists as emerging health professional leaders in their fields.
Objectives:
Participants will engage in culturally relevant and responsive practices that center healing and wellness from trauma.
Participants will critically examine and reflect on the impacts that systems of oppression have in healthcare, science, and research.
Participants will experience a sense of belonging & humanization
Participants will gain tangible skills for advocacy that will contribute to their leadership identity and narrative.
Presentations may focus on any topic related activism/healing and healthcare.
These include, but are not limited to:
How to maintain wellness when advocacy becomes challenging
Developing and maintaining community partnerships
Music/spoken word
Healing Movement Practices
How to deconstruct the ivory tower when your privilege comes from the tower
Advocacy in disability (Disability Justice)
Feeling lost at where to start with dismantling oppressive systems
Eugenics & ancestral trauma
Organizing direct actions
Mindfulness and meditation + Breathwork/sound healing
LGBTQ Advocacy and Healthcare
